              Bio/CV

Linda H.Y. Hegland was born in England, grew up on the prairies of Alberta, and now lives on the East Coast of Canada. Also a writer and poet, her work is inspired by place and her relationship with it. She was first introduced to photography when, as a child, she was given a Brownie camera. With never enough money to buy film, she nonetheless spent hours out on the prairie ‘taking’ photos. Her love of photographic imagery was re-visited when at university she took a black-and-white photography class that resulted in some of her work (a photo study of her two boys) being included in a group exhibition. See www.hegland.wixsite.com/sontouched

She has broadened her ‘eye’ by exploring digital photo-artistry, which allows her to explore her creativity more fully in the rendering of her images; and assists in her search for the essence of place.
